Geographic Access Policy
Last updated: 2026-04-12 (Phase I draft)
Alakazam is a decentralized perpetual-futures protocol. Access to the Alakazam web interface, API, and related services is restricted from jurisdictions where decentralized-derivatives trading is prohibited, sanctioned, or otherwise incompatible with the protocol's compliance posture.
Alakazam does not serve, solicit, or accept users from blocked jurisdictions.
1. Blocked jurisdictions (Phase I)
The list below is a draft seed. Legal review will finalize the canonical list before production launch. Alakazam may add or remove jurisdictions at any time without prior notice.
- United States of America (including all states, territories, and possessions)
- Canada
- Islamic Republic of Iran
- Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea)
- Cuba
- Syrian Arab Republic
- Crimea region
- Donetsk People’s Republic region
- Luhansk People’s Republic region
- Russian Federation
- Any jurisdiction subject to comprehensive sanctions administered by OFAC, the UN Security Council, the EU, the UK, or any other governmental authority with applicable jurisdiction
- Any individual or entity on the OFAC Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) list or equivalent consolidated sanctions lists
2. Enforcement
Access restrictions are enforced through one or more of the following mechanisms:
- IP-based geo-fencing of the Alakazam web UI and API.
- Explicit user attestation on first interaction (Section 3).
- On-chain and off-chain screening against sanctions lists.
- Discretionary access restrictions imposed by Alakazam at any time for any reason.
Circumventing geographic restrictions (for example, via VPN, proxy, or misrepresentation) is a material breach of Alakazam's Terms of Service. Alakazam reserves the right to freeze access, cancel open orders, close positions, and withhold withdrawals where it has a good-faith belief a user is prohibited from using the platform.
3. User attestation
On first interaction with the Alakazam application, you must affirm each of the following:
- You are not a resident, citizen, or tax resident of any blocked jurisdiction listed in Section 1.
- You are not physically located in a blocked jurisdiction at the time of use.
- You are not accessing Alakazam on behalf of a prohibited person or entity.
- You are not named on any sanctions or restricted-persons list.
- You have read and understood the Risk Disclosure.
4. Reservation of rights
Alakazam retains the right, at its sole discretion, to:
- Restrict, suspend, or terminate access for any user at any time, with or without notice.
- Require additional identity verification, attestations, or documentation.
- Cooperate with law enforcement, regulators, and other authorities as required by applicable law.
5. Relationship to other policies
- Risk Disclosure — material risks of using Alakazam.
- Terms of Service — digest shown in the in-app compliance modal; full terms published separately.
